COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS):

LEARN WHAT BUEHLER HOME IS DOING TO STAY SAFE

Like everyone else around the world, Buehler Home has been adjusting with this new reality due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We continue to follow the guidelines set in place by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

While we currently have no residents or staff with the COVID-19 virus, Buehler Home is monitoring the situation with utmost care.  As things begin to open up in our area of the state, it is important to remember that the COVID virus has not gone away.  We must still take precautions to protect each other.  Wearing masks and social distancing are still most important when residents are outside of their apartments or townhomes.

At this time, we will continue our heightened precautionary and screening measures throughout our community. All of our employees are wearing masks and screened with their temperature taken prior to the beginning of their shift.

Visitors are not permitted anywhere on Buehler Home’s campus except for certain compassionate care cases such as end-of-life situations.  Families are encouraged to drop off deliveries for residents on the front porch off of Sheridan Road.

While we can’t open the Dining Room, the Bistro, or the Roof Top Grill just yet, residents can pick up their meals in these locations. Tables and chairs are out on the Roof Top Terrace, and we encourage residents to sit outside on these beautiful days.

We are continuing to order essential toiletries, foods and beverages at Hy-Vee and Walgreen’s multiple times a week, so residents can safely shop from the comfort of their homes. Any necessary items will be delivered by our Buehler Home staff.

All group activities will remain suspended. We have embraced new technology and creativity to help residents remain active and connected. If you would like to coordinate a FaceTime call with your loved ones, please email ADraeger@BuehlerHome.com.

Through our in-house TV system, we are broadcasting daily mass from Father David Richardson at St. Philomena’s Church and a weekly church service from First Federated Church. We are also able to stream our exercise classes, trivia games, day-in-the-life interviews of our residents and staff, and much more. We understand the importance of engaging mentally, physically, and spiritually on a daily basis, and we will continue to find creative ways to promote a healthy environment and combat isolation.

Residents should continue to monitor their own symptoms, stay hydrated, get some fresh air, and continue proper hygiene with good hand washing.  This won’t last forever, but our population is the most at risk, and it is imperative that we continue with these precautions.  We are looking forward to the day when we can resume activities and share a meal together, yet the health and safety of our residents and staff must remain our highest priority.
